What is Stem Cell Therapy?

Beyer Regenerative Medicine is here to provide you with regenerative medicine for pain relief. But if you don’t know what stem cells are or how stem cell therapy works, you might not be sure if this option is right for you and your pain.

There are different types of stem cells, but the main role of stem cells is to develop into different cell types which can range from muscle cells to brain cells. The type of stem cells we use at Beyer are called mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). MSCs work as messengers for other cells in the body, sending signals to help initiate tissue growth and regeneration.

But these MSCs reduce in number as the body ages naturally, decreasing the amount of MSCs that are present in the body. Since these MSCs help the body with the regenerative process, it’s not surprising that the body’s regenerative abilities also decrease with the reduction in MSCs, leaving cells that are damaged and unable to heal or repair.

This is where chronic pain and other issues come in. When damaged cells are left in the body and not told to regenerate, you can start to experience pain associated with those older, damaged cells. But MSCs have shown great potential for helping to restore this regenerative process in the body. Stem cell therapy introduces younger, healthy MSCs into your body to help encourage cell growth and regeneration. This process makes stem cell therapy a great solution for people experiencing:

  • Joint pain
  • Arthritic conditions or arthritis
  • Chronic pain
  • Knee pain
  • Effects of aging
  • Reduce inflammation

Using Umbilical Cord Stem Cells

At Beyer Stem Cell Institute, we get our MSCs from umbilical cord blood because it contains high amounts of MSCS. When you inject these younger MSCs into an older human body, they work to re-promote cells in the body to regenerate. Since these MSCs are so young, the body doesn’t recognize them as foregin entities, aiding in the body’s positive reaction toward stem cell therapy. In fact, there have been no recorded reactions or rejections associated with the injection of these MSCs.

The MSCs we use at Beyer are found in umbilical cord blood. To get these MScs, the umbilical cords are donated by healthy mothers, complying with all FDA and medical guidelines that pertain to these types of donations.

Why Stem Cells?

At Beyer Regenerative Medicine, we’ve chosen stem cells because they are both a safe and effective way to treat chronic pain and provide our patients with pain relief. While some chronic conditions can use surgeries to attempt to fix the problem, stem cell therapy is a procedure that is not invasive and requires minimal recovery time.

In addition to preventing the need for surgery, stem cells are an alternative to pain medications. While pain medicine can provide a patient with temporary pain relief, those medications only mask the pain. Through stem cell therapy, we can encourage those damaged cells to regenerate, fixing the source of the pain instead of just masking the pain that patient experiences. As the cells regenerate, the source of that pain is regenerating and healing.

Carol Stream

Carol Stream is a village that is located just west of the Chicago metro area. Carol Stream was named after the daughter of the village’s founder and was incorporated in 1959. Carol’s father, Jay Stream, was a military veteran and the owner of a local construction company. Jay became frustrated during a large subdivision negotiation in a nearby town called Naperville. Heeding the advice from a Naperville clerk, Jay began to build his own town in 1957. This made a space for people to work and live in the same town — Carol Stream — rather than commuting to Chicago.

Now, the village of Carol Stream is home to over 40,000 residents, along with some attractions like:

  • Coral Cove Water Park
  • McCaslin Park
  • Found View Recreation Center
  • Elk Trail Recreation Center
  • Coyote Crossing Mini Golf
